Physio or Kinesiologist: Which One Do You Actually Need?

Your back has been bothering you for weeks. You are not sure where to start: physiotherapy or kinesiology? They sound similar but they serve different purposes.

Knowing the difference can make a real impact on how well and how fast you recover.

What a Physiotherapist Does

A physiotherapist specializes in reducing pain. The approach is often hands-on at first: manual therapy, dry needling, joint mobilization. The goal is to get you out of pain quickly, especially in the acute phase of an injury. It is an essential first step.

What a Kinesiologist Does

A kinesiologist picks up where physiotherapy often leaves off. The focus is not on pain relief but on fixing what caused it and making sure it does not come back. Through active rehabilitation, targeted strengthening and movement re-education, the goal is to restore full function and keep you performing at your best long term.

They Work Better Together

Physio and kinesiology are not competing services. At RESET, Vincent and our physiotherapy team regularly collaborate to offer seamless care, from initial pain relief all the way through to full performance recovery.

If you are not sure where to start, one session with Vincent is usually enough to get a clear picture and build a plan that works for you.
